I was hit last year after 16 years of being a top rated performer at Intel (recruited to a new job role at just the wrong time) and many comments here are hitting close to home. While I'm somewhat glad to have been pushed from the nest and the mess that I left behind (severance and finding a new job within days of being let go are definitely softening the blow), I'm finding it difficult to get over knowing who survived the cuts - some of those folks should have never been hired by Intel in the first place. Do not get me wrong, many folks staying are really good but there is a large group of useless freeloaders that still continue to drain energy, funds and everything else Intel has to offer.

piece of practical advice from an old timer....if you are close to rule of 75, stick it out and leave as soon as you hit it. If you are far off, look for a better job. The Intel grind not worth it
Life couldn't be better, was hard at first but new career and life can't be beat. Best of luck to those that left and hope for the best for those that stay, they will need it next year.
YES, I remember you... And pictures from 16 months ago. I also remember rotten and stinky Diane's (Bryant) memo, ACT of enormous cowardness... This woman has NO any face, no any character. But we already know this! We know who they are...
I still play within INTEL game of cat and mouse... But, I do NOT know anymore who is cat, who mouse, and who is rat??? It seems that I am suddenly hidden rat, and I go/aim to kill the cat, although it seemed that I was, after all, mouse in this game?! ;-)

OP, I Know your pain and joy, me 20+ year veteran multiple promotions and loved what I and the company accomplished over more than two decades. Couldn't believe the way I was let go with only the one L4 I ever got in my whole career, and then how it was done. Not even a courtesy check from my last couple bosses who are VPs, and new for a decade, talk about how showing appreciation is done, GPTW LOL
I feel the worst for the good friends and colleagues slaving away in what is an ever increasing and growing mess the management all the way to BK have failed to address. The free loaders they are everywhere, it is the good hardworking that are going down that I feel for.

It is just about numbers... These with numbers 10000xxx and 1000xxxx are protected as Polar Bears. These scumbags can do whatever they want. If Time of Wild West returned, they would slotter minions as cattle.
But, inevitably, the Global Warming is just lurking near INTEL front doors. And you know what Warming does to Polar Bears, ain't you?

Yep, the easy, brainless method was used to choose people to cut. And of course, we're right back near employment levels before that happened. That's the part that ticks me off, it was a pure cost move, designed to push out the older and more knowlegable people.
