My coach stated during the mid year review that this job will be more clinical role and the coach went on and on about the new process and what the clinical note would look like. I just feel like when Humana was gathering information on who has a licence or no licence earlier on during the first quarter they were not truthful to the staff in why they were gathering that info. They said it was due to making sure they are providing appropriate training for CEU's but it appears it may be to aide them in the layoffs, since this role is going in a clinical direction. Just wondering if this information was shared with anyone else.

The CCM cert is not very expensive compared to obtaining your masters degree.
I would not invest in the CCM cert at this time. It might delay the inevitable but in the end it's not a license. I have noticed as well that most CM's across the industry require Master's level with or without a license, or an RN. How 6yrs of college equals an associate of nursing I do not know. Your money would probably be better spent on a Master's degree if you want to stay in this line of work long term. How sad is it that a college degree is not hardly employable education anymore. Makes me not even want to try to find work.
I posted about getting a case management cert a few months back and was bashed for suggesting it. I was told it was worthless. Any extra qualifications you can have is very helpful!
I am not convinced Humana ever has a plan.... it changes with the wind. What is true today changes tomorrow. If you can tolerate the stress of "maybe today, maybe tomorrow", than that is that. But you can analyze it day to day and minute to minute and never know for sure. All there will ever be is rumors.
Yep been asked multiple times over last year about licensure. The bachelor social worker can be a licensed bachelor level sw but most places that require license is a masters degree with license. They are different licensures and can do different things. I heard another coach asked their team if they were interested in taking the case management certification. Phcs are going to be few and it's going to require some type of clinical aspect whether license or certification
More and more health care companies are going to licensed professionals like social workers and nurses. Since being told that Humana will be having more layoffs I have taken the opportunity to be looking for other work.Jobs comparable to the PHC roles that we have are requiring a licensed sociAl worker or a nurse degtee/license or a certified care manager certificate. At some point last year Humana was supposed to be offering the ccm to PHC. I agree with the first too comments Care managers roles in the future will need a license. Certain states require a license to offer care manager services if it is a clinical role. My good friend has worked with Humana as a PHC for over 3 years and she does not have a degree. She has had a hard time finding jobs to apply for with a position like the one she has now due to the license requirement. I feel for her and all of us. God Bless
On the contrary, there are many licensed social workers in PHC positions. I personally know of several on my team alone. Many of them do not qualify for the HCM-SS role because that requires a master's degree and a license. Those who do have a master's degree and a license, did not find any HCM-SS roles open at the time they applied, so they accepted the PHC role.
Makes no sense. The licensed staff have a license that why they work as RN's or Social Workers the rest of us have no license which is why we are working as PHC's.. Some RN Coach's were laid off before but they have a license.. Your thinking seems off.
I did not have a conversation like that with my coach, who chooses to believe the party line that there will still be a place for existing PHCs in HAH 2.0. However, I believe that the all-clinical model is a given and the PHC role requirements are very likely to change. I agree with you that there was an ulterior motive for requesting the details of licensed personnel back in March. If PHCs do remain as a viable role in HAH 2.0, it is my belief that a minimum requirement will be social work licensure. Licensed social workers in many health care settings are considered as clinical staff (even those without a master's degree), so that revision of the PHC role requirement makes sense to me in this new world of HAH 2.0. Time will tell.
Ive never been asked if I hold a license or could get one. In most settings staff can be non clunical if thry are supervised by clinical staff. Hospice for example... You can have face to face contact as a social worker without a license if your supervisor is a lcsw...the rembursememt rate doesnt change
