Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Massive layoffs in January

I think they have just hired these new RNs to cover all the RN's leaving. We are not enrolling new members now so the program is not growing. If Humana does not have a very successful open enrollment for 2018 I believe we will see massive layoffs in Jan.

This is what I am afraid of as well. What we are seeing now might be just a warm-up round for what is about to happen if open enrollment fails to meet (what I am sure are unreasonable) expectations of the higher-ups. Not looking forward to more months of wait and see...

As long as PHCs are overseen by a clinician, which is why we have a medical director, reimbursement rates are no different than putting RN in the role. In my last job health coaches did not have to be licensed. Just needed supervision by a licensed employee and it did not have to be direct supervision. Ie: coach.

Because I'm fairly certain PHC's and CHE's will be nonexistent soon. Caseload will go down some so you can do your own mailings. Plus they need staff to take the PHC cases. They'll get better reimbursement if clinical staff handles cases rather than PHC's. We'll see. That seems to be the plan but who knows. Clinical staff are expensive. From a PHC.

If I was an RN I would be out the door. As a Bach level PHC I cannot find a lot of work at Humana or elsewhere. But an RN. There's a ton of WAH case management jobs out there and others depending on your background. I see them when I look for a job daily. You have zero reason to stick around if you are even slightly unhappy. Take advantage of your freedom to do so as a high demand worker. Not so easy for me, not throwing a pity party but that is just a factual statement.

There is nothing positive going on with theses changes, it is gloom and doom for Many, RNs have job security as if they are not needed with this program they will be shuffled some where else Thats reality. There arent opening for the skill set of many phcs as almost all are non clinical staff, look at job openings its slim pickens.... Phc only hope is that the create some pilot to shuffle us to or keep some of us to continue yo clean up all this mess
