4oql- Thank you for your perspective from corporate.
4oql you are an angry person ... the op was asking a question and or if anyone has heard anything, isnt that what this site is for and about. Btw springer is more entertaining, you should know this weren't you on there before?
@4oql wow you are one nasty miserable person! Why so angry at the OP? They were just asking a question. Go crawl back into your miserable lonely hole!
Really? Of course there will be store closings and layoffs. The company isn't making money! Jeesh, turn Maury back on and go cash you unemployment check. This company with reach a right-size in the future or it will be shut down. Eddie owns it, he can do with it what he wants. Enjoy watching from your lazy-boy....DUH
There will be Kmarts closing on the west coast for sure. Announcing end of Aug or early Sept.
Makes since the June announcements close officially in early September
Um ok...
When are they going to give up on Kmart in the Pacific Northwest. They closed the nearest DC a few years ago so now they ship from Southern California, it must cost a Fortune with the handful of stores in Oregon, Washington & Idaho.
There will be stores closing every quarter just to get the sales . Anyone that has EIS access look at how much these stores are doing and how bad the sales decreases for the company really are if you minus out these closing stores,
I guess this site should contain the news about upcoming layoffs, store closure so all who are impacted will be impacted will be well informed and the most important where are the job openings available outside of Sears/Kmart. This last piece of information will be more valuable than the first.
They usually announce a wave of closings in the middle of September. They like to close then as they have more traffic and the DCs can send loads of excess merchandise to be liquidated. If you are in this wave, there are a couple of good things. First, you won't have crazy hours on Thanksgiving/Black Friday. And second, you will be done before Christmas.
It's possible and extremely likely. There's no actual evidence as far as I know but September would be the optimal time to close down underperforming stores. That way sears will avoid the deep red numbers that come with an underperforming store during holiday season.
Generally there are store closings announced in sept, has been for last 3 years. Would not surprise me.
I heard of a couple in Michigan. Liquidator says one in October and one in February, he says they are already scheduled. Maybe a rumor I don't know?
not the ones that are already in liquidation scheduled last days in September... I'm speaking of new stores to be announced to start liquidation in September
september store closings were announced weeks ago
