Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

D-Day 16th August.

I hope everyone has a backup plan in place. Layoffs will be announced on 16th August on the earnings call. 7k is the rumour.

Execs always get bonuses and more stock. They get more stock just from selling stock.

There were stealth layoffs in 2015. Maybe 2017 will be like 2015?

That would not prevent Cisco from laying off people.

Are people in denial? Why would this be fake news when I haven't seen a year without a Q4 earnings call layoff announcement in about 9 years. Last year was 7k and with all the acquisitions this year and what will be once again a decline in revenue how can the ELT avoid it, it's the currency they can offer the market to avoid a share value drop which is BTW CR's number one KPI. CEO's work for the shareholders not the company. They are his boss and the people who can fire him.

One of my good friends is an analyst at a very large institutional investor. You will hear him on the call on the 16th asking CR questions. The view he gave me is that CSCO looked good when Trump got in, because it appeared it could be a big payday for investor in share buy backs and a one time dividend. The likelihood of this is looking less the longer Trump is in office. They are only staying in to hedge in case this happens, but the general view on Cisco as a business is they don't know how to use the war chest and can't stop their decline as a business. He's removed his personal investment which says a lot. Have no doubt Chuck is tredding water and things can get very ugly, very quickly for CEO's. He will sacrifice whoever he needs to to can his head above water, how do you think he got there in th first place, because he's a nice guy? Ha.

Don't worry Jnpr is hiring.

Oh yeah. How is Juniper different from Cisco? Sometimes the opposite is just the same.

It's just sad. Can confirm silent layoffs are going on in SJC from my viewpoint. Red badges are now almost entirely gone from the group and there's only a little over a handful of blue badges remaining. We were overflowing our floor a little over a year ago and pulling in many millions annually. Now stressed out waiting for the final axe to come.

Just a theory. Maybe the EVP promotion to prepare to take over Collab, considering RT days may be short?

To pay for new EVP's RSUs, Bonuses and fat pay checks there will be 5% reduction in workforce a.k.a LRs

OGv1m6a-1fxw --- promotions should be individual, not team related. Why should some guy I have been carrying get a raise because of something I fixed for him?

I'm wondering what kind of culture this company has, all this continuous layoffs and negative energy that the employees go through every single quarter.....then a promotion is given for an individual for his (just his) achievement not a team or BU!

Whats funny is my dept has been told to cut red badges. Just told today no blue badges are going to be cut, but a bunch of red badges will be, which really s---s cause i have been holding out for a package before I leave in a month for my new job. I had it all planned out and everything.

Great lunch time reading. Fact is, there will be zero redundancies as that would create undo stress for those impacted and those left behind.

At present, The Cisco Response Appropriatly & Passionatly team (aka CRAP, a cross-functional team spanning HR, Workplace Resources, and Advanced Services) has identified a form of PTSD (Post Tramatic Stress Disorder) prevalent at Cisco among previously and currently employed Cisco family members. At Cisco, HR likes to apply CRAP to the wounds of those impacted to better understand how we can improve our CRAP- it's a continuous improvement program of sorts. By better understanding the root cause of Cisco PTSD, we can better mitigate the causes and reduce mental health support costs.

Whilst we are in the midst of our analysis, we've been able to extrapolate a few items from our initial dataset. Those impacted with CIsco PTSD share the following characteristics:

1) grade 11 & above (sr directer and above generally exempt)

2) age greater than 40

3) function = SP sales, engineering, business development, PSS, services overlay, operations, finance

4) Species- Males of European and Indian (sub-continent) descent. Herein lies one of the interesting dichotomies in the data as the Males of European descent (Americana variants in particular) seem to control executive leadership at Cisco.

4) Cisco Employees with over 15 years experience, exude a tendency to seek out others with similar tenure for bonding and comfort experiences as they oft times view themselves as "survivors" which can complicate treatment because they are still employed but are not sure for how long- similar to trench war participants in Verdun.

Oddly, during cognitive memory tests, we show short term memory failing (perhaps due to alcohol abuse and/or other external factors) yet long term memory is very crisp back to 2001.

For brevity, I'll need to stop here. There are other observations for "those left behind"which require various forms of treatment to keep them productive in the face of cisco beats (aka cisco beatings, mala beats, etc) and the ever present threat of 1:1 meetings with ones supervisor on short notice.

Until we figure this out, please note that all layoffs will henceforth cease until later this year.

With all the innovation occurring in SJC, I'm really surprised we are even discussing layoffs. Too many negative people on this message board. Chuck is not the type of guy to layoff thousands.
