Are you able to work right after the layoff and still collect the severance package?

Make sure you clarify this with HR. You have to be released by the company if you want to resign prior to your last day. Some areas make people work for some period. If you do get laid off, get this clarified.
Not everyone can qualify for a supplement plan nor afford one. The premium for those are higher, alot higher. Advatage plans r the best fit for the type of members we serve
Regarding the Humana commercial: open enrollment is around the corner, October, I think. Humana and AARP (United) seem to be the first two insurance companies to get their message out via TV. I was with some older folks recently, at a dinner, and the consensus was that having Medicare, a supplemental insurance to pick up what Medicare doesn't pay, gives them 0% out of pocket, but then they also have to buy a pharmacy plan. I am curious to know what is the actual difference in how much these folks pay out each month for their policies compared to our Medicare Advatage folks. Our members struggle with co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance constantly.
Yes if you get an outside job after you are laid off. I highly encourage people who may get laid off to bust hump trying to get a job asap that way you can save your severance! I know people laid off in February who took the layoff as vacation time and didn't really put in effort because they wanted to live on their severance who are now struggling on unemployment and now trying g to find something. Plus cobra is extremely expensive.

Yes, but you can't take a new position within Humana and collect. Best case scenario is starting a new job the day after you leave Humana....win win
