Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

This makes no sense

Announcing more layoffs and then just letting everybody stress and guess if they will be next is beyond stupid. Just look at this board for proof. People can't concentrate, have trouble working, there is fighting between ranks... How is this good for Humana? For productivity? And instead of getting ahead of this, and just ending our misery, they keep dragging it out. A bunch of geniuses we have running this company...

To The Husband, a bit too simple minded. The severance an associate receives is a drop in the bucket compared to Humana's earnings. You're making it personal, it's not. It's business.

Please don't lump all Managers together saying they're all bad because it's not true.

It makes perfect sense if you think about it. They tell you early. You start looking and find something. You have to start the new job and can't wait for the severance. They save money and don't have to pay you to go away.

As painful as this is I think the heads up is better. However, they still try to pound these numbers out of us. I know it's a business, but they will be dumping mass amounts of members. Give us information to make things better for us & members. You make all these massive changes & just expect us all to keep up under the guise of embracing change. More like embracing disorder. Let us look for work. Give us reduced numbers to work with for all these members you will dump. We are all adults, but just a fact it is hard to work with the increased anxiety & stress. For all of the "wellness" you promote for members & associates, I see it as window dressing since I have been here. I believe many in positions of power do what they can, but the culture at HAH is punitive & one of micromanagement & distrust. It is not unheard of to be profitable in a positive environment. HAH isn't that.

Good way of taking it all in, last poster. I prefer to job hunt while still employed as well.

It is true that this announcement is discouraging, but I'm grateful for the "heads up". I work because I have to, so I appreciate the time to try to prevent chaos in mine and my children's lives. It is also better to apply for work when you have a job, since not being employed usually lowers the chances of being offered a far remuneration for your work.

Agreed. Maybe people don't thrive together so well on a sinking ship.
