In September Apple will launch an iPhone 7 with an xmm7480 Intel modem. This modem will have the equivalent spec of the x12 Qualcomm modem launched Q4 2016. Intel is a joke.

The arrogance of the x86 and silicon leadership poisoned all of senior management, add to the mix the Qualcomm additions and you have a dream team setup for the most spectacular technology implosion.
Couldn't be happening to a more loved company.
Frankly the world did better when Kodak, Blackberry and Nokia imploded and the world will be better when BK lead Intel implodes in the next two years.
The ARMy and silicon from TSMC and Samsung will replace the x86 and the world will be a better place.
I have been in mobile comms for 20 years now. I have seen Nokia rise and fall. I have seen empty buildings along the DFW telecom corridor after the bubble burst in 2001. I have seen the advent of the smartphone. I have seen the whole industry change again and again.
The only constant during that whole time was Qualcomm arrogance. I used to attend various mobile standardization meetings, and you could always tell immediately who the Qualcomm guys were: The ones with their noses far far up in the air. The only ones who never socialized with anyone from other companies. The only ones who would actually interrupt people from other companies in the middle of their sentences. The only ones who never participated in creating any kind of consensus.
And now you can still see the Qualcomm arrogance here. And you can see it also in the people who moved from Q to Intel.
But soon it will come to an end. The day that Qualcomm finally achieves the monopoly that they have been striving for, their arrogance will end. Not much longer now.

I can imagine what the next salary reviews at Qualcomm will be like: "Ok, your raise for this year is -5%. Yes, your salary was just decreased. What, you don't like that? Well, where are you gonna go? No more competition! HAHAHAHA!"
