July is end of second Dell financial quarter. Nothing's happened to us as predicted by rumor mongers. My boss assured our team that we are all safe till next year July. One more year of fun and freebies. I will retire after that.

Yeah, right. Enjoy your holiday, business update emails typically start going out about 12 to 14 days before the end of the month. You'll know if you're on the list if you get an email that has just your manager, you, and an HR rep as the attendees. As soon as you get on the call your manager will start reading a lawyer approved script that basically says " so long, have a nice life, you're out of here by the last day of the quarter."
Never trust your boss - he does not have your best interest at heart! In a contracting business, it is every man for himself. Human nature. Pay attention and don't be naïve.
