I wanted to start this thread for us who are trying to help coworkers who were laid off. I am not sure what's the best way to do this. Whatever I come up can be perceived in a few different ways, some of them may hurt the individual I am trying to help. Any good suggestions on what would be good to do to show the support but not come across in a bad way.

Just stay in touch, offer to be a reference and check in once in a while on their job search. I can't tell you how many so called friends turned their back on me.
Support riffed employees? My riffed co-worker got close to half a year's severance. Then they took a long vacation from work and turned around and got another job with lots of severance money left. Meanwhile they rest of us get to do even more than before. So why exactly do I need to support them?

@O5NeUhX-rko...The Joe Schmuck board posts are usually 2-3 months old, dont waste your time and he wants you to "register" in order to post on it...
@OP, You better not be a Financial Planner/advisor out to build your contact list with Rif'd Verizon employee to "invest" their severance payout and get your commission.

There is a laid off Verizon employees Facebook group with hundreds of members. Great support if you can find it. Too bad you can't name names on here.
