Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

What is the real skinny regarding Severancre

I was laid off on 4/17 after I was approved then delayed layoff before HPe became DXC. I received 11 weeks pay because of my length of service time (over 30 years) and was not informed by my Manager of anything else.

I filed for unemployment and was told by my case worker that they were informed that the 11 weeks had to expire before I would be able to collect unemployment AND according to HPe/DXC I should be expecting a final payout as well....... which was news to me. Is there a final payout ?

HPE Cut off Medical Insurance at the end of the two weeks!!! Other companies in the valley in CA where very good to the employees giving them between 4 to 6 months of medical coverage. They were not cut off by the knees. It seems that MEG and UPPER MANAGEMENT only care about their pocket books and the waivers lie about why they laid you off. Terrible immoral characters they are. They only care about how money they can make in the long run and care nothing about leaving a good successful legacy of the company they are in charge of. Back in the day CEO, etc worked hard to make their company successful by not trying to make their bank account successful.

Seems a number of us are in the same boat. A number of us were part of the lay off in Atlanta 6/30.

We have received the pay, but we have not signed anything. The original notice stated we would be provided 2 months or so continuing health care. That did not happen. We were not provided a 6 week notice before the lay off took place. I would suggest holding off before signing off on any paperwork and have a lawyer look it over. Different guidelines will be in every state, but if you are in Atlanta, you might want to do some homework.

UI varies a lot between states. Find the UI website for your state and the rules.

You were told wrong by the state employee. The ONLY weeks you can't claim unemployment is the week(s) you actually receive a severance check - doesn't matter for how many weeks or $$$ it is for. The question I'm asked every week on my unemployment claim form is, "did you receive any severance pay this week?" You pick 'yes' or 'no'. If you pick 'yes', they ask you how much. You type in the $$$ amount and you'll be disqualified for the week, and that week only. I had to go to the unemployment office to "re-activate" my checks after a week I receive a severance check. I've done this twice, as my severance was broken into two checks. BTW, you CANNOT draw unemployment benefits while drawing a pension (pension is different that severance). Pension was for us old EDS employees that still had one. If you draw it, you can kiss unemployment goodbye - its the law. Myself, I'd cashed out my EDS pension in 2016, hence it wasn't an issue for me. Hope this helped... Good luck!

Didn't you get some detailed paperwork explaining exactly what your payout would be? I did.
