Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Layoffs - Customer Success Managers NA (June 1st 2017)

Just heard several Customer Success Managers for North America Cloud are getting their pink slips via FedEx today. Most are remote and older employees. They are getting replaced by college kids in Austin and Burlington.

They bring these kids in at $50k base and promise them a $25k comp. They barely get half of their comp. Last year they had an org wide announcement about the changes a month before year end. This year has been crickets.

No all hands or announcements.

Oracle is a wonderful company to work for. I love my time here and feel very well compensated for the role I have in the company. I appreciate the world class people I get to work with every day and feel proud to help make Oracle Cloud(tm) part of our success story. I fully support our executives and know they have the best interested of myself, fellow employees, and ORCL shareholders at heart.

I work at Oracle and I wish I had never started here. Terrible culture, or no culture to be exact. Work as hard as you want but you will most likely never get a raise. The goal is to hire cheap and keep it that way.

First of all, no one is being replaced by college kids in Austin or Burlington (that was last year FY17). For this year, FY18 effective June 1 they have wiped out Customer Success across North America. Four regions down to two regions. Seems like maybe half the CSM field population has been let go. Accts under a certain threshold ($ dollar value) are moving to the hub model and the remaining accts will stay with the remaining CSMs. But of course no one cares about customers...here goes the whole shake up and of course the clients are impacted the most with all the changes. Not sure how the leadership expects people to be effective....

They won't be better off because older folks keep voting for people like Donald Trump and leaders like Paul Ryan. They are going to leave America and the world in shambles. Might as well rename the country to the United Corporations of America.

I have kids, I was let go and I am worried for my wife and I, but I am also worried for those kids because unless something changes, they are going to be worse off than the rest, unless this generation finds a way to balance this back out some way. I really think this could be run way better even today. I wish I didn't even have Oracle on my resume now... what a joke.

That wouldn't surprise me to see all CSM's being from the class of pool. I've spoken to a couple and they are totally clueless with sales and more importantly the customer. Customer experience is the biggest issue that Oracle has and replacing seasoned professionals with clueless new hires is only going to line the pockets of our competitors.
