Maybe some in corporate are overworked. I just said one person is doing the job of what 2-3 people did in the past. Could be the situation with everyone today. It is normal to work a lot these days. I can't speak for all, but my job is basically to be on call 7 days a week if something comes up. Once again, not saying feel sorry for me. I, and I understand the store associates don't feel this way and I get it, am grateful for my job.
Even if I wanted to, I couldn't change any of the store policies as I don't work in store operations. They won't listen to me. For those who said their store discourages second jobs, you have to do what you have to do. I would go ahead and get that second job. I don't know what everyone's circumstances are, but if you need two part time jobs as you are main breadwinner, then no one can tell you you can't have two jobs. Of course, I know the issue always used to be working for another retailer was a conflict of interest, but I have even seen in the past where that was approved for some associates.
You are right....there is no way I can feel what you are feeling or know what you have to do as I am not in the same position as you are today. The best I can do is shop my closest Sears store, which I do, and ask to work in the store every now and then as permitted by my immediate boss.
And yes you are right, we don't have a company without the associates in the stores....we do realize that but the majority of the associates at corporate aren't given the opportunity to be able to weigh in on hourly wages or hours or any of that sort of stuff.
