Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The only thing that bothers me more than not ever getting a raise is when the manager lies to you

It seems like the corporate level is the only chance to advance, but yes indeed the retail sector their is no such thing as advancement (the only time I saw was recently was when this girl took a lead position). The funny thing when the previous person got fired he was a lead never got a raise. I think they were fed up so a veteran jumped in when the position opened she being attracting got the position and she said she would not take the position unless she got a raise (well she got one thats the only time I seen that ever happen). I was surprised she got a raised she has been the only person I ever heard getting a raise after being their for quiet a while.

The only thing that bothers me more than not ever getting a raise is when the manager lies to you. The manager in charge of my department has lied for years. I have heard her promise her associates I will give you full time if you work hard enough and prove to me you have excelled. I would say the time I was their about 6 really tried and s---ed up to her. Not a single one got that full time position. She would basically promise something that was never their. I think its pretty messed up to do such thing making someone delusional something that she is using as an excuse to squeeze the associate to work hard and get nothing in the end.

Most of the managers nowadays lie. Its their way of doing damage control.

Nah, for me it is not ever getting a raise. I don't give a flying fig what the manager says.

What's management supposed to do? If they tell the truth about what's really happening all their employees will jump ship and then how do they keep the stores running long enough for Eddie to complete his ultimate plan?

@mdw Believe me the majority of the people that have left Sear have really felt relieved. In my department its actually still pretty chill my Lead kind of protects me from the managers (also get along with all of them at the same time except one). The day I am just fed up I am calling it quits or until I get something better also, but its been good with me at the moment I just miss the good old times when majority of my co workers that I got along were still their.

But ya why should a manager make up stuff make up a sense of opportunity when it never existed in the first place. Just to give an update about it the majority of the people that were promised the supposed full time position have all left when I was their they just got fed up and thats all because Sears just doesnt give you a future.

There, there now. There are people who do not know the difference between "There" and "Their" but why does their lack of a comprehension of the English language upset you so?

and the one thing that really irritates me is someone that CAN't differentiate the use of 'there' AND 'their'

Take it from someone that took a lead position only to be laid off a week later, leads are disappearing left and right. Actually I was so relieved to be laid off, I've gotten back to having a real life, don't miss the work atmosphere at all. I really miss the people, but hadn't realized just how beaten down I had become until I was out of there.

You cant take store managers by their word. There is small raise with moving from regular associate to lead. However with the increase workload, its not even worth it. With the company in perial, whatever lead positions will be the first one's terminated
