Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

So we live in suspense for 3 more months?

I don't know if this month's LR will take some pressure off the presumed LR coming in august.

The most we can do is to be prepared and have your go-bag ready and your Plan-B in place.

Well, we are in very large BU and we are now sure that our execs have very little clue what we do, so I had a strategy 1:1 with my boss the other day, and we realize that another 7-8% cut is coming, and we have very little time before the targets are selected and the lists drawn up.

So, I and my colleagues agreed to take on all my managers customer work (he's very bright and knowledgeable and does great customer work) so that he can focus internally to work the system and try to keep us all alive in August. In the meantime, we are now starting to talk to competitors, who are very interested in the work we're doing.

Wonder how much this is now playing out across Cisco?

Hey @NnopmJb-tba, your boss is a no BS kind of guy. We need more of that!

It may be brutal, it may be sad, but it is reality.

Well our boss just announced a new incentive plan , quite exciting .....

"we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired"

I wish management was more transparent,, they talk about IoT , connecting world and not able to connect their own employees...irony ...Definitely not a good place to work for long..

Sadly I believe the 1100 layoffs this month is just the appetizer and the main course will be in August, as usual. There have been comments that Cisco was appending these 1100 to last August's 5500 in order to keep it within the fiscal year (and possibly none in FY18) but the financial numbers are not indicating anything other than further layoffs ahead. The market is clearly not happy and stock prices continue to fall following the earnings and have fallen again after the initial 8% drop.
