Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Naive employees

For those of you commenting on this board that are either promoting Dell or saying that only the "dead weight" will be cut, you need to wake up to reality. Dell, or any other large company for that matter, cares nothing about their employees. Their fiduciary responsibility is to the company, investors, and board of directors. Employees are viewed as nothing but overhead (and non-valued overhead) in most cases (you are en expense that needs to be lowered). Many employees, especially if they've been with a company for multiple years, get this mind set that the company owes them something, and that you owe them something (almost a parent/child relationship). These companies do not care. Wake up and watch for the next opportunity with another company where you can take their money and walk away to the next company when the opportunity arises. They don't care about you! Do your best on the job while you are there to gain more knowledge to use at the next company and walk away with your head held high at your first opportunity to better yourself.

Mike Dell sure looks out for himself. If you look real close at his head you can see horns. I heard he farts flames.

"Keep your pie hole open, you're next. Shmuck."

No there is an mature comment.

I left Dell 3 years ago, and moved on to a small company where I don't have yo put up with all this mess.

And I've put enough away to retire whenever I get ready to.

I think IBM set that standard back in the early 90's. Prior to that, they (management) knew the value of a well trained loyal employee and took good care of us. Once the competition began to take it's toll, they changed their mindset and only cared about the almighty dollar. They obviously never recovered from their greed, still to this day. I left after 16 years in 1997 because it got so bad. That is about the time they started importing cheap labor. That is also the same time that you could always tell when your manager was lying to you, his lips were moving!
