Difference between a director layoff (grade 13 and above) and workbee layoff (grade 4 to 12)

Director (grade 13+ above) , immediately book a vacation and sell his/her fancy retreat to get extra income, use his/hers fancy frequent flier miles for the free vacation.. and rest on stocks/options for the next 2 years, got a stint at some other companies after that..

Workbee/1st line manager layoff (grade 4 to 12):

has to tell the family, and immediately look for jobs outside, emotions back and forth and self value doubts? many sleepless nights to follow, entire family on him/her (insurance/school)...

very limited stock and options and some very little left over $ from the package.

expensive health care at over $2100 per month premium..

Obama Care looks good for now..

Gotta live within your means is all. If you feel stressed out about that stuff you might not have enough saved up or you may need to move to a lower COL area.

The biggest change is that the bonus for G11 -> G12 -> G13 is 15% -> 25% -> 35%

OP you have a very screwed up and erroneous view of just how much most directors get paid. I know many Directors levels who have been impacted in LR rounds. None of them fall into that category. Most of them have the same concerns as everyone else.

I won't say there aren't any directors who have fancy retreats, book expensive vacations when they are laid off etc, but I can say of all of the people I knew at the Director level that were laid off (and I know many) none of them fell into that category.

You should pack up and move to where everyone is paid exactly the same thing. I mean, that's basically what you are complaining about - that some people make more than other people.

You're obviously living inside of a free country (because you're whining about Capitalism) so you are free to make that choice to move. Just remember it's a one-way choice because that Utopian country you seem to think is better, won't let you leave (after you figure out 'equal pay for everyone' has it's own huge problems).

Seriously...pick one and move. Whiners are annoying. They spend more energy 'talking' than 'doing'.
