Isn't being fired or laid off the same thing?

@1bji Fired or laid off? If laid off you should get the severance package. I hope. Good luck, I worked with the OBU folks a lot.
Just remember that they like to do these things on Thursdays, the worst maybe to come yet
I heard about 80 people were let go yesterday.
I wouldn't call it skeleton crews. Everyone has taken on more, but that is normal.
I am sorry I should have googled it first. Thankyou for that clarification.
I am wondering about this. Yes I have been out of the SHC nightmare for three years. Is corporate being run by skeleton crews just like the stores?
How many employees are left at corporate?
OBU = Online Business Unit
Pardon me what is/was the OBU division? I have not heard that term used before.
@1gia comedy is not your strongest skill is it? You make light of someone's misfortune and still fall flat on your face. How about you watch some comedy or read some tips on how and when to tell a joke, then come back to us.
---- I work in the OBU.
U work in the oxygen bar unit too ??
I was fired yesterday, I work in the OBU. It's a relief to get away. Thanks to everyone on this board; I have read it for a long time. It has given me a lot of comfort over the years. Thanks.
What is Integrated Learning Performance? ILP mentioned below.
@1ttc whoever wrote the post was being sarcastic
Sarcasm and irony are completely lost on you.
Who is the idiot that said "a consistent stream of layoffs is good for productivity?"
Really? What planet are you from? Why don't you come work at a store with one of us and see how productive you can be with only a handful of employees to run the entire store. We could not access email or sales information after 12 EST...how is that productive?
I heard the ecommerce marketing CMO was laid off but as others have said we would never know either way
There is a lot of paperwork and hours needed to process one termination. Frequent, smaller layoffs are more efficient than the larger layoffs, there are also legal elements which make the smaller ones better. A consistent stream of layoffs is great for productivity and keeping the morale up, keep up the great work chief people officer!!!!
@1yaq agreed they are very sneaky about it. This website is my only source for what's happening at our company! A normal company would show respect to those they layoff and the former colleagues left behind by notifying them. But they don't. Desks remain in their former states for months and no one knows or talks about those who have been kicked out. The company will go bankrupt, we will all get let go at some point. At least go about it with some integrity or humanity.
The ILP (integrated learning performance) team was impacted by today's layoffs, although I'm not sure how many. They've been so sneaky with how they've been doing most of the layoffs this year. They do them frequently but typically only impact small groups at a time. Often I don't hear about certain groups being impacted until a month or two after it happened.
Sears doesn't have a future the "transformation" talk was always just empty words and cheerleading with nothing to support it.
They already laid off a ton of IT people and senior tech staff
Typical Sears thinking, how are we to complete our transformation without an ecommerce Marketing team, isn't digital the future?
digital CMO Tomak should be one of them that's if he still works at Sears.been so long since I have seen or heard from him I would not know if he still works there. leaders are needed for the fight
5 from ecommerce marketing team. All I know of so far
Maybe tech support? The computers at work have had so many issues it drives me nuts (I mean they always have issues), seems Sears its at its last legs trying to save, but if you fire the wrong people (especially IT) its just going to get worse from here on out.
I wonder if this is why the computers weren't functioning properly in our stores today. Email, pebble, etc. I realize maybe not directly related but something is going to fall apart somewhere with all the cuts. We've been having trouble printing signs too.
They apparently didn't hear it from Eddie, or else they would have reported hearing it from the horse's rear end.
-- heard it from the horses mouth --
Is it any wonder sears is in deep weeds.... they got a bunch of nags working there
more of the support teams let go...heard it from the horses mouth
What department/s? Where did you hear this?
We can only hope that Eddie and his sycophants were the first ones out the door!
