In my experience if your team has been target for selective LR in the past then the whole team might be impacted.

If you got your 1:1 for May 18th, start backing up person info/packing stuff for home...now. Saves time at the end. There is life after CSCO.

Not glad I was restructured, but looking back now I am really starting to realize how much of my own worrying about ongoing layoffs through the years was a personal problem. Not blaming the company, but reflecting on my own outlook, the past worry I could not gain control of myself, the many nights I could not sleep, and the anxiety I had at work. These were my own issues. Now that my restructuring has passed, I am not saying life is carefree, just saying that going through it has definitely changed my life outlook and coping techniques. Looking back, I wish I would have not spent so much time worrying. Life happens. No guarantees. Don't worry; if you are worrying. No one gets out of life alive. Try to enjoy it.

You see a "HR Rep" mysteriously show up for an entire week, when for the past 2yrs you've never known your org even had a rep.

The execs of your org start having "strategy meetings" amongst themselves without including anybody remotely technical who could actually validate that the strategy is a good one.

At Cisco now, the surest sign of an impending lay-off, sometimes small, sometimes large is that there is a scheduled quarterly earnings call.

The 15-min "surprise conversation" is the Mark of the Beast. Beware. In the 2000s there were rumors of people placing red strips of paper (symbolizing blood of the Lamb) on their cubical doorways..in hopes that the LR would pass them. Rough times back then. Best of luck to everyone next week.

Managers go through HR training before LR; have been asked to strictly stick to the script; hand over the package.

Your Manager will have a mysterious "15-min" 1:1 scheduled with you next Thur/Friday. That is all they are scripted for...that is all they will give you. Works like a charm.
