Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Why I am still here

I am not saying Sears is a great company or has been since the 70s or 80s. I have done well, and that is why I have been here so long. I have worked for people who were good to me over the years as i worked hard. I am just saying what is happening with the people as exploited by the media isn't good. I care about the people. There are lots of us who have worked hard all these years. I knew when I started in the 90s that things were shaky then with Sears, and I came into this with eyes open. I stay because I generally like the people I work with and for me it is a good paying job that I enjoy as best as anyone can enjoy a job. It makes me sad to hear that the stores are so unhappy.

Very smart and rationale post. I agree completely and that is why I said what I did. I know that I cant control the future, but for today I am okay. If you arent okay, you need to do what is best for you.

Its all about you if you can make a living and survive your good to go. For example I don't know what position you have, but a manager should be able to support itself well especially if the spouse has another income coming (and also if its a good one). I remember when I started off it was very fun, just things got worse when co workers left.

I know what you mean missing your co workers if you leave, but as far as a good paying job for a lot it isn't (minimum wage for the majority of the of Sears workforce) that's why a lot complain if your a manager your good to go or if you have a different type of position (say higher tier corporate) you will be fine. Even leads don't make good money its just sad, but its all up to you if you can survive and are happy you can stay, but if your stressing (as a lot have poster their personal experiences) well maybe its its time to look for something else.
