Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

HPE Officially Explains WHY You Have Cooties!

Hey Everyone, for those of you who have been wondering about the nitty-gritty details surrounding HPE’s official policies concerning the exact nature of the cooties carried by ex-employees of HPE, and WHY, exactly, said cooties are SOOO utterly contagious that ex-HP/HPE employees can NOT be allowed to compete, at ANY wage, with the H-1B workers, for HPE jobs, here below are imported the current “official” policies of HPE. WHY you can NOT be re-hired, to compete with H-1Bs, that is… If you have objections concerning this, please write an email in your own words, and send it to Trump’s Foxy Minions and / or Trump’s Kabuki-theater “opponents”, who are SUPPOSEDLY guarding the henhouse with regards to H-1B abuse, at http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/ , or call your Senator, at http://www.refinery29.com/2017/01/138465/how-to-call-senator … Some sources say that calling is more effective than writing an email. Please be respectful to your ConcgressCritters! ThankYouVeraMuch!!!

OK, here below is "Why = Because We Said So!"

Q: Am I eligible for rehire 60 days after my designated last day of employment?

In most cases you are not eligible for rehire after the 60-day Preferential Rehire Period has passed. For more information, please refer to the U.S Rehire Restrictions Policy.

3.0.1.1 External Hiring

The language below replaces section 3.0.1.1 of the Global Talent Acquisition Policy

Former employees who left the company under the 2012 or any subsequent enhanced early retirement program are ineligible for rehire or to be engaged as an agency contractor. Exceptions will be granted only in rare circumstances with EC-level approval, and only if the employee was terminated more than 2 years prior to the rehire start date or engagement start date.

Former employees who left the company in March 2012 or later through a workforce reduction program or similar basis (including mutual separation agreement or employee transition assistance agreement) are ineligible for rehire or to be engaged as an agency contractor, except as otherwise provided in the U.S. Workforce Reduction Program. Exceptions will be granted only in rare circumstances with EC-level approval.

The warm title of the document says it all: "Global Talent Acquisition Policy."

Thank You "Sleepless-in-Seattle"!!!

That's so true! In Houston, hardware EEs have a choice of HPE and HP Inc (who have blacklisted many of us, for the "sin" of having been laid off), or the petrol business, which is only slowly recovering... If you are an old geezer, good luck trying to persuade the petrolists that you can "learn on the job", concerning all the many-many corners of their business that differs from the HP/HPE corners of the business! Other than that... Good luck, maybe try being a greeter at Walmart, or at Home Depot! Or uproot your whole family, for a contractor EE job in some distant city, some distant state!

More globally, all the "tough guys" are SOOO tough, when telling us to "toughen up", so long as they have never been in our shoes...

Meanwhile, if this obvious abuse of H-1B grates on you, PLEASE harangue your Senator of Congressional rep! Turning a blind eye towards all of hose you have laid off, and then hiring H-1Bs, for lack of being able to find anyone,is absurd!

A lot of these comments tell people to "grow up" or "get over it."

But in a lot of cities, this isn't realistic. For instance, in Corvallis Oregon, HP is basically the only tech employer in a fifty mile radius.

Not all of us live in San Francisco; there are a lot of cities where HP is the dominant employer and their policies have a real impact on these cities.

Google and Microsoft hire more H1Bs directly, HPE employs the vast majority of them through contracting agencies e.g. Tata

On the outside it appears as if Google at least is actually trying to get top tier (and unique) talent with H1B rather than using it to employ low wage workers that are essentially indentured to HPE.

Stockholm Syndrome. These people b--ch and complain about HPE, get put out of their misery, then b--ch and complain about HPE policies making it difficult to return to HPE. They do you a favor... take the opportunity you couldn't give yourself and go do something better.

Move on, don't complain, and don't look back. Your future is brighter without HPE. Don't feel bitter. Google and Microsoft hire more H1-B than HPE. The point is with or without H1B, traditional IT jobs are shrinking because of Cloud and Hybrid IT. The job market is not bad, move on and find another job.

Who would ever want to be rehired by such a ruthless organization. You have to be mad or a democrat. Your brains are fried unless you are desperate. No job is worth this grief.
