Intel has kindly given July 3rd off. A lot of managers, who are long time employees, have 4 weeks of vacation. So most of them are taking off to coincide with the 2 extra days - I would think. It's stupid to read anything else into it.

My manager told me too. He said he was jumping to lead another team in the upcoming reorg. This releases him from any control to 'save people' or to have to lay the friends off his team which he's built for 4 years.
