Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sales vs Credit Card Apps

What kind of twilight zone do we live in. Down 20+ percent everyday and you never get a email or phone call about it. But god forbid you dont get a credit card app and its like the end of the world. You get non stop phone calls, emails, and have to be on regional conference calls to tell you how easy it is to get these credit card apps that never get approved. If this company cared this much about sales there probably would not be a need for a sears holdings layoff page.

How about the fact that now credit card payments in Sears must be made with a Sears credit card since there are no more bar codes on the bill statements from Citi Bank, all it does is get people made when they come in to make a payment. Why wasn't this explained better on bill statements.

@1rnf Not only that the credit card is garbage the offer is no good and the rewards are no good either, get points when you can get cash back from other credit cards with better offers. One of the worse credit cards out their to be honest. I love how in the member rallys they praise like this is a great credit card to own and use lol...

Everyone should just go on a PIP and be gone in 60 Days for not performing in credit and then the company doesn't have to pay a severance!

In the morning you wake and you break out the goals. Usually, like 40 Credit apps for the day. Spend 1 hour going through all of the outliers below in credit. From 7 am to 8 am. 8 am to 8:30 am going through previous day observations around credit, who was the sales floor leader on duty driving credit during what hours. Getting ready for your a-- chewing call from your district manager because you go like 15 out 40 credit apps. Create another action plan. PA announcements all day talking about credit. Have rotations with employees running around with a clipboard and soliciting credit (disturbing what little customers we have in the stores). Out of the 14 apps, you may get only 2 are approved. Before going to bed at night you look at your closing email and think here comes another a-- chewing in the morning from my district manager. More conference calls and time off the floor. So Customers please wait for good customer service because I am sitting on another conference call because you didn't open up a credit app. Shame on you. What kind of customer don't want a 5,3,2, 1 card to get all of those points and get everything free at Sears and allow our margin to keep falling in the store for all your FREE stuff! If only I would get my a-- chewed for being down every day 30% to Last Year Sales. Credit is our future. We will not pay for advertising. If you want Sales, Footsteps in the building you have to drive credit and shop your way. I challenge every district manager and region manager to come into a store on a Saturday and Sunday and drive credit. See the objections. Sears won't be open long enough to use my card, For some reason, my mom still likes Sears so I am coming to get a few things for her so no I don't want your card. If I want to work for a financial institute that works this hard I will go to Wells Fargo.

Citi isn't paying enough to make up for each store being down 20% everyday.

Citi pays SHC for the credit information, whether they are approved or not. Also, SHC needs a certain amount of sign-ups before a certain date or they are on the hook for the rewards. If they meet the number then Citi would pay the rewards.

I question this everyday. I could understand credit being a piece of the puzzle but it's everything. I would love to know why. Because as you said, it's more important than sales.
