This LR at May wiped most of the TMEs and sales person in our BU. This has created fear in some seniors. Some say this could sign that BU could be closed or signed off. To add to these doubts, Veep cancelled the all hands due on June first week.

need to cover every product in the BU (which to anybody with a brain means that their knowledge will be surface at best)
This is Cisco's problem in general. It's good to know architectures/solutions, but they are so cheap they don't have enough technical folks to be deep on very specific products. There was a move several years ago to move to much more specialization but the people pushing it left.
Well, although I'm a PM, it's clear to me that the most asked-for resource by the Account teams of the BU is the lowly TME. One example in a BU near to me: there are currently a number of massive RFP's that require long-running, intensely technical CPOC's (Customer "Proof of Concept") tests at remote locations. These are necessary pre-steps for awarding contracts for $50-100M+ projects and requires one or more TME's with deep technical knowledge on each product to get to selection. Meanwhile, half of the BU execs are whacking TME's (just lost another 4-5) to rehire juniors in India, but the other half thinks that TME's need to cover every product in the BU (which to anybody with a brain means that their knowledge will be surface at best).
UCS is old news. Time to sell Tetration
TMEs have been systematically dismantled in every BU.
I had predicted this would happen to UCS two years before it did. The proof is available on the internet. UCS is just about finished.
They do have some cards they can play. But given it is the very management that has led the BU to the disaster it is today, I am afraid they are incapable of making the right course corrections. The tragedy of this will be many talented engineers will suffer.
And when UCS eventually fails (along with ACI) that will leave a fairly significant crack in the fortresses' wall that will break the kingdom. Abandon ship, I think.
UCS
check the linkedin profile of your senior Engineering managers. They have created a new comprehensive profile, and have become a paid linkedin member now. They are seriously searching, but have not been able to land jobs. That should answer your question.
USA TMEs are being replaced by cheaper H1Bs and rookie Bangalore recruits. SP related BU will be shuttered. SP carriers are not buying high priced SP h/w, they are deploying white box h/w and moving to the cloud. Just like Uber killed the taxi industry, SDN will wipe out CSCO/JNPR etc.
The doomed BU
What BU is it ?
