Thats what it seems like to me. We get everything we don't need and nothing we do need.
There's no rhyme or reason to our shipments. It seems so random, as if we have monkeys throwing darts on dartboards rather than experienced buyers and inventory analysts.
For example, we received TONS of pillows on our last freight shipment, yet every space on the floor for each kind of pillow is full and we have at least 20-30 of each kind in the stockroom. Tons of comforter sets coming in too, while the Mercury is starting to rise in a lot of parts of the country. Haven't seen one fan or window air conditioner come in though, we only have a handful of what was put away last fall to sell.
Also, what's with the random UPS shipments of store merchandise? Today I received one Consumer Cellular phone SIM card in its own box. Just one SIM card kit, nothing else. What a waste. It happens all the time. Freight (RRC) shipments often have boxes come in with one screwdriver, one pair of earbuds, one bra, etc. too.
The other UPS box had a whole bunch of David Taylor ("old man") pants that sell at a glacial pace in our store. We have tons of those in the stockroom, yet we received a 30lb box of them (about 20 pairs).
I wonder how much money can be saved and the effect it would have on the company (in a positive aspect) if Sears really reevaluated their entire inventory system. There is too much waste and lost opportunities with what we have now.
