Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

5/4 Layoffs

Curious about these 5/4 layoffs...Not sure if it's true or not. Wondering how Verizon is going to afford all of those severance packages. And how do you actually pull something like this off? 10%-20% of your SS is a lot of people. What if my entire store fits into that category? What if 3 stores in your district fit into that category? Why did they just give us new uniforms when you're about to layoff people? Why are stores still hiring?

Let's be straight folks, Verizon can no longer compete against T-Mobile and the other competitors. T-Mobile has become a marketing genius. They attract the millennial's and the elderly's, with simplistic pricing. It is now too late for Verizon. Verizon will begin to close stores, turn stores over to indirect ultimately Verizon may diversify out of the wireless business altogether:

Many of the recent layoffs are actually scheduled to go into effect May 4th. Perhaps this is the layoffs talked about?

Just got out of a closed-door meeting. There will be no severance for those who were laid off based upon performance. Verizon is aligning, adapting and adjusting due to almost 2000 customers per day going to Sprint and Tmobile. It is speculated that some corporate stores Will be turned into authorized agent locations based upon performance.

If the termination is performance based, there would be no severance. Bottom 20% = Performance based.

They still gave raises before I was laid off. The uniforms mean nothing to them so I wouldn't take that in consideration. More layoffs are coming so be prepared. No telling what they have in store now.
