3uxi, I was part of CDBU (aka Scientific-Atlanta) that was brought for 6.9B. There was constant chatter for 2 years about cisco shutting down the BU or selling it. Within the BU, everyone was in denial that cisco would get rid of the BU and take the 6.9B loss.. well, they sold CDBU to technicolor for 600M… I would consider that a total loss… I’m willing to bet Cisco will eventually shutdown SPVSS… just like flip, Linksys (sold for peanuts too), couple of hardware/memory BU, the cloud BU, I forgot their names. with cisco you can bet anything can happen.
The story about selling spvss is complete and utter BS. Won't happen in at least next few quarters.
Jungo is one small part of spvss.From this to selling entire spvss there's a big difference.

@MviY7nV-3lyx - maybe you are deaf? It happened. I know some of the people personally. All of Jungo and at least 25 in Jerusalem office.
I'm in Israel spvss and haven't heard anything about it.
Already started- I heard the VSS team in IL (NDS/Jungo) was let go a few days ago, sold off to a partner.
Good riddance if its true. SPVSS was a totally waste of money! I have no idea why cisco didn't get rid of it already!

Listen boy, vss is having great margins, negative though but two digits. Boy! Vss has a huge pipeline of customers, who are running away one by one!

I don't know if SPVSS is on the block or not. But you need to be clear on one thing. Cisco ONLY wants businesses that 1) strongly grow and 2) deliver the desired margin.
Even amazing businesses - which many people would kill for - are out of favor on these criteria.
My BU was recently told by an exec that although we are showing healthy growth, our margins are below their magic 60% and therefore we were a "drag on the company" since we drag the average down.
That's completely odd. Why would Cisco sell such a successful BU? The new product is just super exciting, and Oh Boy look at all those customers just waiting to buy it. Frankly we never had it better. Well that's what the nice man keeps saying on his wonderful Cisco TV broadcasts.
Also - how much profit comes from X1?
VSS is better off without Cisco. Anything is better than having to pay the Cisco Tax for piss poor services such as HR and IT.
Wow SPVSS is being sold? That is huge news. How are they keeping Comcast as a customer if Cisco does not have a Video Technology in the cloud to pitch to Service Provider? Is Comcast buying the IP or assets of X1 from Cisco?

Cisco is selling off SPVSS to a private equity firm. There is some additional urgency as Ericsson is lioking to divest their video operation as well.
