Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sears is on the brink of bankruptcy, but can somehow afford to add yet another executive

Title is Chief People Officer or something to that effect -- whatever that means. Eddie "introduced" her by emails sent company-wide. He might have said something on Pebble too.

Another fat cat in this top-heavy organization. Towards the bottom--which are the stores--there is no investment at all. Pretty much every new hire can only expect less than 15 hours a week because there are no hours --they keep cutting. They won't pay for much-needed repairs, renovations or maintenance. Our roof is leaking, if the QMT can't patch it all, oh well. Heck, we can't even afford supplies, you know, basics like pens for the salespeople and the office and soap in the restrooms. Our printer in the office is barely hanging on by a thread, held together by hack job after hack job, because Sears will not pay for a new one.

Why would we need a "Chief People Officer"? Is this person going to rake in the big bucks to brainwash all of the remaining employees into believing that Sears is OK and it's so good to be here? Are they going to rake in the big bucks that Sears purportedly does not have to rah-rah all day on Pebble, trying to boost morale so that way those of us that are left will stay and will keep working hard?

Wow! Is it really that bad in the stores? I am in my nearby store at least once a week and use the bathroom from time to time, and there is both soap and toilet paper. The associates are nice and helpful! Yes at slow times there is minimal staff coverage, but it is the same way even when I go to Jewel at slow times. I remember 20 plus years ago when I worked in the stores we started having to ensure the bathrooms were clean too but we had to do that sort of stuff too when I worked as a store manager at the Gap so I was used to that. I also learned how to fix toilets when I worked at the Gap. Why so much anger?

Who is this person and what is their position? Haven't heard or read of any new blood coming on board.

A C Level drone who makes how much? Yeah. Fire AP & the maintenance man but bring her on.

Can't help but think that she holds extra charm for Eddie. In a nonbusiness sense.

Original poster here...I don't think you work for Sears. If you do, you must work at HQ. Things have been on a steady decline. Don't believe me? Just go visit your local Sears.

As for me working here, I am in the process of finding greener pastures. I'm not staying here much longer. Thousands of other employees are in a similar situation. They are jumping ship at the nearest opportunity.

Regardless, it is just a waste of money (something this company does REALLY well) to hire yet another C-level drone that will add nothing of value to this company.

"Good lord. Reading this the need for this woman couldn't be greater!"

100%....the constant ramblings and complaint from people on this site is unreal......get a new job if you don't want to work there.

They need to fire all the executives and hire part time executives for minimum wage

Rick, if you believe Eddie is only receiving $1 per year, you are a greater fool than most. Eddie doesn't obtain his money from a salary. He gets assets that he strips for cash.

Most consumers carry Purrell with them? And that's why store restrooms don't need to have soap? What next? Turn off the water to the toilets, because most people carry bottled water?

Well he can't show up, he was a victim of kidnapping in the past you know. Who knows what all you crazy people might try to do to him.

For a evil greedy man to only make 1.00 a year? Your narrative doesn't add up.

Yea, he poured his heart and soul into the company he couldn't even show up at the stockholders meetings face to face and all the questions he answered was scripted.

The reason there are no pens is employees with bad attitudes keep stealing them. They waste soap and water in the bathroom as well.

My DM at our store once found the water running in the bathroom and soap all over the place. People think they are hurting sears with this nonsense, but most customers carry purrell with them at all times nowadays and don't need an soap.

The only ones who are hurt are the good positive employees

Yes people, Eddie is getting really rich off all this. I wonder how he spends his 1.00 per year salary.

Eddie is the biggest victim in all this. He has poured hard earned cash into Shc to keep it afloat and none of you appreciate it. The bad attitudes are apalling

Apparently it's the same at all the stores. Leaky roof, no bathroom soap and all. You would have a bad attitude too if you weren't sure you were going to wake up with a job the next day. I think the uncertainty of everything keeps the moral very low.

Obviously she is here to cut staff and handle the dismantling of the company until bankruptcy. I smell a scapegoat.

I figured she would be in charge of dealing with all the layoffs and personnel issues during bankruptcy...

Keep drinking the kool aid. Eddie needs to hold it together until July. I was a Kmart store manager when they went through the first bankruptcy. Upper management continued to tell us that the company was fine and they were not filing for bankruptcy up to the moment that they did.

What a crock! If anyone at sears has anything other than a bad attitude, they are in denial, or a lemming.
