Thread regarding Follett layoffs

It's painful

It's just downright painful to go to work these days. The waiting is really dragging everybody down. Any so called efficiency is more than shot now.

Nobody's smiling, nobody's enthused, nobody cares, nobody knows if they will have a job tomorrow. Very depressing. Just get it over with, would you please? I think I'll call in sick tomorrow...

So few employees care anymore. So sad.

If you are so discontent then stop complaining and leave.

You did not mention if you are actively preparing during your wait. If not I strongly suggest reconsidering. Five reasons why: 1) Resume & LinkedIn profile only good when in the pipeline, 2) Applying for positions and working with recruiters = best way to get resume through web filters employers use today, 3) Interviewing skills and comfort on the phone, a camera, in person and in front of mid to large groups is crucial for many positions, 4) Your stock and brand are worth 5X more when interviewing while employed, 5) Worst thing that can happen is you will be hired elsewhere and miss out on any benefits of being let go. Oh and 6) You leave on your terms and stick whoever "they" are instead of the other way around. Good luck

Hang in there, kiddo. Control what you can control and be a resource for your students and colleagues. The rest is out of our hands.

I left awhile ago. I couldn't work in that negative environment any longer. Found another job and it has been an incredible change all around with the biggest benefit being on my health. My only regret was not leaving a lot sooner.

I hope you can find something soon. Follett just isn't worth it and each day you hang around is one less day you have happiness in your career. I'm not sure what area you work in but I will tell you that the skills we can put on our resumes from Follett transfer very well into other sectors.
