On Glassdoor it reads eh ok...biggest complaint is the retail hours/customers but ya know...it's retail. Then on here it sounds dreadful. So which is it...really(before I click submit application)

Wow, what a thread...the worst is all here in one place...Great examples of totally false things on this website are below: the whole smoker BS, the drug test BS, the getting paid more at WFM than elsewhere BS, the stoner manager BS, the libtard comment BS, the don't plan to move up BS, the favortism nepotism stress BS. As a long term TM who doesn't necessarily like his every day at work (but sure likes that nice paycheck and benefits) I find a lot of these comments wrong, misleading, nefarious, horrible, inaccurate and sometimes just plain stupid. You people who are looking at this website for job advice or for info about whether to apply need to understand that much of what is posted is just good old total BS.
I've never heard of anyone fired because they lied about not being a smoker. Please...... #fakenews
They "drug" tested for tobacco in about 2010 approximately. The con was to give everyone a "health" test which included blood and spit with the promise if you passed you would get a bigger discount. Reality was it was to figure out who lied about smoking cigarettes on their previous health survey which asked those smoke to self identify to pay higher bi-weekly insurance deductions which no one did. The qualifications perimeters for qualificaiton anyway were mathematically engineered so that only the 3rd deviation of the human population would quality for the bigger discount...ie a handful of people. Again, identifying those smokers who lied was the intent behind the smoke and mirrors. These bad marks went into your file and you were later fired for it. Good one WFM!

More that 3/4 of the post on here are bull$hit. It's honestly a decent retailer to work for. Some things are better and some are worse than 10 years ago.
Maybe you get .35 cents more but from what I read you're hours get cut and you don't end up working your full potential. I'd rather make less and have more hours cause then in the end...you know based on math, you make more. Plus I can't offer open availablity nor do I want to join a food cult
I have never desire to work w a bunch of loser stoners controlling my career path. I just need to pay rent and bills while I finish my degree. Starting to trust this thread even more
They expect more, but pay more. Every job expects more than what you can easily do. This varies depending on TL.
You already know what you're in for. As you said it's retail. I haven't worked at wfm in a couple years, but from what I remember it's no different from any other retail gig.
This site is mainly for venting and complaining, you won't find positive reviews here.

Just stay a team member, and keep it low level commitment. Plan to move on within 2 years, and if you stay longer then you're made out of teflon and steel and are hollow inside. If you're good and they think you're a "rockstar" natural talent that's an "asset", they are desperate and trying to feed you the kool aid flavored compliments.
