Oh no, they track your IP address.
Yeah, so what. I'm a former Cisco employee exercising my freedom of speech. What can Cisco do to me? Not a thing.
@OP - For those making personal comments, yeah, they're probably bullies on other Internet forums too. That's the nature of the Internet.
Most of the comment here, and all of mine, have only bullied the Company and not individuals. Last time I looked, the "company" was pretty unfeeling.
I certainly don't think I "did very well out of the company" if you mean I walked away with money I didn't deserve. Through politics and the "good ol' boy network", I was screwed out of several years worth of bonuses before I was laid off. What was left of my "severance" after I found my next job equaled my withheld bonuses, so I call it even. I even sent my old manager a Christmas card thanking him for the WFR to give me the bonuses he withheld due to politics. Sure, you can say my performance was bad and I only think I deserved a bonus, but my performance didn't change, only my manager did. I had bonuses under the previous boss and none under the new one. I got bonuses at my next job. Seems to me it was the a$$hole who was the manager who set me up for the WFR.
If you meant that I did well after leaving Cisco by finding a better job, with better pay. Then, yes, I did. But what does that have to do with your critique of the posts here? There's no cowardice in getting a better job and posting honest feelings here.
Did HR say back in January that they read sites like this to get an idea of what the real rank n file felt?
I can say that HR reads, AND RESPONDS TO negative reviews on Glassdoor reviews. They basically called me a liar when I said that the cons of working at Cisco was annual lay-offs and that they've started targeting older employees under the guise of being "too expensive".
... the masses are frustrated. Some of the comments aren't statements that people indeed would say out loud, but it is how people feel. If they didn't care about the company's future they wouldn't be expessing opinion. Sometimes reality hurts. It's hurting me right now.
+1
When I was at Cisco I was routinely told how great everything is ... you don't dare say anything.
+1 We were told our BU was doing great and was critical to the company's operations. If we were critical, why were older workers let go and younger or red-badge people brought in to replace us.
You want to hear something negative? How's this? It really ticked me off then I got 3 or more calls a week starting the week I was let go from recruiters looking to backfill MY position. I had to tell them "Sorry, I can't take that position because it was my position I was laid off from and I can't go back to Cisco for 6 months." Almost as bad, was a Cisco employee emailing me with high importance asking me if I knew anyone looking for a network certified engineer position because they had an opening in Public Sector. Yeah, I want to send a friend to work at a company where they have to be ready to find a new job every Aug (or more often it seems now).
