Sure they do...and they would for wireline associates if not for union. And us pre 2003 ppl can ride it out till aug of 2019.

Interesting to see VZ is recruiting young people on sites like Linkdin. Obviously, they want to jettison the current management force in favor of new employees who they will pay less and who will get less vacation.

Just as AT'&T's TW merge, if approved, they will become one of the the companies with more debt in the world 250B+, Wall Street loves cash free floe, as long they stay within expectations, they can layoff as many as the want.

When will they? Verizon has been cutting heads constantly for years. Massive layoff in 2015 followed by many smaller ones since then. I would say around 20,000 heads have been cut in 2015 and 2016 alone.

Verizon has taken on additional debt to acquire the worthless Yahoo, the once wireless cash cow is now starting to fail due to saturation and having to lower prices to compete with T Mobile, Sprint etc...

Wireline has mostly been sold off so it can't really produce and grow.

Many, many more cuts to come as this train wreck of a company tries to manage its massive debt load while paying massive dividends while trying to please shareholders.

Its a disaster on a biblical scale if you ask me.
