Thread regarding Sears layoffs

YOUR STORE IS CLOSING!!!

It does not matter who in your store or department has been terminated. It does not matter how good or bad you think your store may be doing. YOUR STORE IS CLOSING!!! This company is nothing but a rotting carcass and once the vultures have taken what they want it is over. This fact is painfully obvious. All you have to do is take a look around a Kmart or Sears store. If you can not tell something is majorly wrong, you are either blind or you know nothing about retail.

Well yeah. We already know. Aren't we Captain Obvious here. Maybe post something of substance? Or you must be the blind one because it clearly shows you don't read this board.

Are you really dumb enough to think that would happen? No way. Someone might buy some decent locations, remodel, and open a new store. Maybe. The store will still liquidate, everyone will be layed off, and will compete with anyone else for any new jobs.

This is flat out incorrect. While the company is doing terribly, there are a handful of stores that are doing very well. Those are valuable things and even dumb ol' Eddie can understand that.

More likely, those successful stores will be sold off to another retailer (as was done with some of the other valuable things that Sears used to own, like property, Craftsman, etc). The new owner will put a new sign out front and continue hauling in the cash.

For the stores that aren't highly profitable (which, sadly, is most of them), it's not going to work out so nicely.

Sears people; It is not only Sears that is a train wreck. Retailers in general have opened so many stores the past 5-7 years that the US now has 5 times the retail space per capita that nations like Japan or Europe does, and there is no nation on earth that even comes close to that kind of overbuilding.

The retail implosion is just getting going and will get very ugly in the near future, as hundreds of thousands of stores close across the country. Think there is "Life after Sears"?

Guess again. The only reason you guys even had/have a job this long is because Sears has been propped up by big money that didn't want the collapse to happen yet. Once Sears falls, the retail implosion will be on, as malls across the country lose an important anchor, even as they're already losing regular chains.

This has been one gigantic bubble and it is now popping.

What difference does it make when. Get out there and plan you exit, don't wait to be told!

Yes, but WHEN is it closing? These posts are really not all that helpful. We all understand what's going on.
