My AD and D are stand up people. Companies change, technology, automation, robots, generations, globalism. Every company makes mistakes. Like anything else some will lose some will win. I have no idea if i'll be employed in 1 or 5 years, but its been good run and strong leadership in my dept.
I have to disagree. I had one Director that was one of the best, high-character people I ever had the pleasure to work with. After that, I had one that was a real POS (yelling and berating style of management, one of those 'charming' people that is rotten inside) but again, not all are like that.
I must disagree. Worked in Pittsburgh FSC for a number of years managed by a very personable and well respected director. Never heard a disparaging word from any of my coworkers. Unfortunately, I heard she was blindsided and let go after considerable years of service. That was Verizon's loss and I'm quite confident she has moved on to bigger and better things!

You work your asses off for long days and weekends while they are "working away" in leadership meetings to decide the "next strategy to fail".
And when it fails (most of teh time) they get to decide who to let go.
Or they fudge numbers to show success - you get pat on the back and maybe 1% more raise. They get big fat bonuses and move on to the next shiny object.

Not true but apparently you have some bad interactions, not all of us can repeat what you say. Some are actually some really nice folks. I have had great interactions with some EDs and VPs that I either worked for or interact with their org. Can't lump everyone in the same bucket. While we all recognize that there are some mentally challenging execs, cannot agree with your all inclusive statement.
