I feel that it's time to start thinking a little differently. Think about working for yourself;building your own brand. There are limited opportunities and the pay is not at all what we are accustomed to at other companies. Working for any corporation ultimately puts to back into the same cycle eventually. We are all way too intelligent to continue being cast aside like refuse while these corporate moguls roll in their hefty payouts. Embrace the freedom and find your true potential.
I am absolutely positive that I am still unemployed.
Had to lick my wounds for a bit. The uncertainty, shock, anger and feeling less than has 100% subsided. Awful withdrawal symptoms while all the koolaide cleared out of my system. Don't feel bitter instead looking forward to the future and closing this chapter of my life on March 31st. The excitement is building. The stress of being unemployed is insignificant compared to the daily stress of meeting at&t's expectations. I have been given a chance at happiness and will be paid while pursuing it. I've been forced into looking for new opportunities and gained a renewed feeling of anything is possible. I honestly look at the team I will soon leave behind and feel bad....most are concerned that they won't be able to wait it out for their turn of being eliminated and leave with some cash. At&t has been able to brainwash it's people into thinking at&t is the only company to work for - we are the privileged. How many one on ones have you been part of that were about you doing a great job and your hard work was appreciated? Look for an internal position as in ARSM....NO WAY....NO HOW getting out and not looking back! The hamster wheel is already in the junkyard :) (That's a very very happy face.)
There is life after AT&T. Enjoyed some time off, and starting a new career in April. Good luck to all!!

I kept my job but took a 20% decrease in pay. Guess Randall got that in his 13% raise.
More good news to come. "Executives estimate that after the merger gets approved AT&T could get by with 30% fewer workers," and, "senior executives say shrinking the work force by 40 percent is not out of the question." Quentin Hardy buried those quotes in a New York Times article. AT&T's 280,000 employees is over 80,000. My guess is that 50,000-60,000 is more likely, but I believe even 50,000 would be the largest cutback since Elisha Gray and Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. I hope this story will prove inaccurate but the sources are solid. In addition, moves like this may be necessary for AT&T to increase profits. With no way to grow, the only way to increase profits is cutting costs, which includes Layoffs and increase their army of lobbyists. They sometimes have more lobbyists than a state has legislators. For decades, state regulators knew that if they went along with the telco while in office, the telco would take care of them afterward. It was a good investment, especially for the state regulators who wouldn't take a more direct payoff. Like Verizon and most other American companies, they've adopted almost a "user be damned" attitude to customers who need much support. They've concluded it was cheaper to lose 5-10% of customers than to solve the problems. The cutbacks in support have already been massive.
TheASM's was probably legacy T replacement, happens all the time ...better to get used to it

Displaced ASM was put into my store, total liar. Doesn't know head from hole in ground. Came in on a high horse, guns blazing, and gained 0 respect from anyone. Already rubbed everyone the wrong way, then promptly went on vacation after a week.
