Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Tax credits for Westbrook

When the agreement was signed for Westbrook the headcount was 804.

Follett agreed to keep a headcount of 579. (You can disagree on the logic for getting a tax break to reduce headcount but that's for a different post)

In 12/2013 the headcount was 746

In 12/2014 the headcount was 682

In 12/2015 the headcount was 645.

The report for 2016 has not been filed yet.

With tax credits for McHenry (Yes, Follett got 2 tax credits for the McHenry locations)

already expired we are free to move people into Westbrook to meet the agreed terms.

For the record, the Aurora DC agreement said we'd keep a headcount of 60, a lot lower than

were there at the time of the agreement.

I would question the leadership of Follett related to the Follett values of integrity.

Blame Pat Quinn. Your tax money to the family. Great deal eh?

Thanks for the numbers. The state's negotiators are first rate, no? Watching out of Illinois workers!

Seeing as follett is used to paying a little more up front to get into cozy relationships, I wonder to whom did they "donate" ? If that's how business is done in Springfield, how did Rod Blagojevich get caught or convicted?

Follett is a dying company in a failing industry as limned by these declining head counts. Associates are merely pawns in this chess game. Follett abuses associates by shifting them to Westbrook to maintain headcount to gain an unjustified tax advantage from state taxpayers. Is this a violation of the tax agreement with the state?
