Did anyone hear about it? How many are going to be LRed this cycle?
40 replies (most recent on top)
A full group of 30-40 were let go from Netanya - this is the group from Jungo (past of the NDS acq), they were sold to a partner, some offshore outsourcing company.
Overall, IL lost 400-500 employees in the last 2~ years - so much for the "our IL employees are the best" message delivered on Chuck's visit to Israel a couple of months ago.
LR package in IL is the standard 1 month advance notice + 4 salaries.

Good news: Package is the same
-
Bad News: LRs still happening and the 'package' (in the USA) can change at any time
US and other employees who shared in this site received 60 days until official last day + severance package of 3 months if they signed the agreement. Every year above 10 years tenure added 1 week. Looks like equal packages.
It is the regular 5 months.
3 months is what employees in the US get.
In September, when 50% will be LR'd, it could change.
3 salaries + 2 months advance notice, or 3 months total?
3 salaries
How was the package this time?
Then the 50% is mainly IH employees?
There's another rumor, that CA will move to maintenance mode only.
Rumor has it 50% of the site in Jerusalem will be LR'd (unless ih has 3 customers)
What is this September thing? Can you at least share the rumor?
Yeah..
It is sad.
Anyone knows more about September?
Another update, just found out about two more LR victims: 1 more SE and a developer.
Can someone please explain the September deadline?
Is it something that was discussed with a large audience or just a rumor?
According to my sources, 20 gone from SPVSS. A group of thirty was let go from Netanya. I can confirm that from SPVSS two system engineers were LRed.
Happening now..
One already from security. Not sure about numbers..
Anyone knows more, please update.
Don't know numbers, but happening now. Getting first reports.
Any update?
Yes
There will be no layoffs...
Seems not today.
Moved to Sunday, 26th for now.
Anyone else knows sth different?
March 23 today - Jerusalem please update
CDBU - isn't that the set top box business that was sold to Technicolor in 2015? anything left of it?
The ELT made the decision to divest CDBU- the guy I was referring to is part of the group that executes acquisitions and divestitures (so not a decision maker).
Have no idea if VSS in the US will be affected.
Yes. I can confirm. The big online economic newspaper is trusted. It says 30 and rumors talked about 50.
Some israeli economic newspaper reported in the morning that ~30 Jerusalem workers will be fired.
If this helps, the "father" of the agile development process at Cisco left and is now a VP at Kronos. He was previously a director in the Cisco Customer Care Business Unit (CCBU). Not sure if he was booted but definitely had a soft landing
7yit, who is this stupid fker that made the deal to sell CDBU? He screw me and a bunch guys over as technicolor laid off most of the sites once the purchase was complete. Main site was lawrenville. I have friends in lawrenville georgia in VSS. Do you know if people there are affected?
They've already LR'd a bunch of people. The most shocking, to me at least, was the guy who handled acqusitions for IT in the region.
This guy was a senior IC (11 or 12) and did a bunch of massive deals (CDBU being sold off to Technicolor, etc.) and was considered a rockstar. I worked with him on a small project a while back and was seriously impressed- super smart dude who was able to move mountains, not very Cisco like... actually, I guess that's why he was let go ;-)
I heard a pretty large LR in IL is still to come- rumours are that VSS will cut all of the xJungo group.
I heard 50-55 March 23 in Israel
Amen god agile amen!
And don't question the archi, or god agile will call you pessimistic.
In the meanwhile keep smiling to the jerks and wait for it to happen sooner or later....
What is IL?
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=abbreviation+il
It's most likely the country code for Israel.
never finished because each new executive-in-charge had to monkey with it, so the architecture kept changing out from under the developers
Repeat after our Lord Agile:
"Welcome changing requirements, even late in
development. Agile processes harness change for
the customer's competitive advantage."
So it is written, so shall it be.
Agree, if you want to be LR'd..one should simply use this trick of questioning the BU strategy or ask your manager or director how does the intended strategy help their BU or Cisco towards progressive next level ?? That is how I ensured my 6 months salary pay + bonus payout during tha last LR in Oct'16...,worked for me!!!
What is IL?
Yeah, and if anyone questions the glorious strategy they get sacked.
@MbgDbrO-3wku - never finished because each new executive-in-charge had to monkey with it, so the architecture kept changing out from under the developers
Re: VSS. How much has been spent on building the much vaunted Infinite Video Platform? Answer: a sh1tload. $1bn? Could be.
How much revenue has it generated? Roughly? SFA.
Who is going to pay the price?
The last VSS LR was delayed. The next one has just started (US yesterday, Israel, India and UK still to come).
Why isn't the product selling?
Too monolithic?
Too expensive?
Too cable focused?
Not finished?
Poor execution?
Perhaps the customers are too stupid to see the value of the marvellous thing we have built.
Surely the strategy can't be wrong? Don't question the strategy or you will be punished.
Yes LR for Uk in old ubiquisis site. Office shut down and staff out.
Winter is coming... Or spring?
Layoffs hit USA: SPVSS, IoT and Cloud.
As for IL, only rumors so far.
Not me
