The Malls in my area are in trouble or already gone . If Seritage owns any of that property, I don't see where it was worth the effort to retain them .At one time , the district consisted of over 30 cash rich properties. They'd be lucky if two were making a profit now.

What a joke.

Orginally store #1325 was supposed to be divided in half. With half of the store staying Sears and the other half going to Burlington Coat Factory from what I was told by an employee.

I am wondering if Burlington pulled out of the project or maybe Seritage found a tenant that wanted the whole store.

I really wish we had a "Dave and Busters" in my area. I heard some stores are half Sears and half D&B is that right?

I actually got out of SHC hell in 2014.

I just wanted to clarify which Sears is closing in my area since the poster before me thought Charleston had only one Sears.

Wow. If I'm reading this correctly, the one staying open is the one doing badly.

But the REIT owned one was doing better, was going to have the renovation but is now closing? Seritage must have found a more viable tenant than Sears.

@2mxf If you work for either one, I wish you well.

When one Sears in my district went to one floor, some of employees went to work for the new tenant and enjoy working for a growing company. I'm looking at getting out of retail myself. Like you noted, the JC Penney is closing, around me Macy's are going down, it seems like time for me to change.

@1ica, I live in Charleston,SC We have 2 Sears Full Line Stores

To clarify the Sears Store #1325 which is in North Charleston, SC is closing. That store is a Seritage owned property. That is a FLS Sears.

The other Sears #2855 in Charleston, SC is not closing. That store is NOT owned by Seritage.

That is also a FLS Sears.

Store 2855 is a very low volume store in a dying mall. The JCP in that mall will be closing.

Just to clarify things for everyone.

The Sears in Charleston SC was on the list for renovations. The team went out to start lining up the work, getting permits, etc. & were sent off the job.

Shows that no matter how well you think your particular store is doing, it still might close sooner rather than later.

Store 3435 in Anaheim, CA stopped taking layaways on April 13 and has confirmed they will be closing. Business has seemed good, but I was told the lease was to run until 2022, however, an arrangement was made to end or reassign the lease.

Corporate isn't turning into a call center. We have plenty of room, so they are hiring to have a call center out of Hoffman Estates.
