Age discrimination is a major deciding factor in follett layoffs and in salary reductions over the last four years. Many former employees impacted by ageism have reported this issue. More employees need to notify the EEOC of of this illegal practice. It's not to late to file your case.

To the first post, you are full of it. Don't forget one day you will be 'old' , I hope you remember this post. Discrimination against seniors is definitely true. Yet we have better work ethics, life experiences, more loyalty, can learn, and keep up with the youngsters. Most of us can also lift the same weight I boxes too, have the stamina to work long hours, etc
If I WAS old, that would mean I'm dead.
In one store alone 3 women over 50 with more than 15 years of service to the company were abused until the left. That wasn't accidental. follett didn't want to lay these employees off. Formally laying them off would cost a severance and it would bare, even to the dullest of thinkers, their plan to reduce age and experience.
Your post stinks of self important exceptionalism. The company you work for WILL fire you, too. It's just a matter of time. It has nothing to do with production or resistance to change. If you believe that's true, you're a blind fool.
Just because you were laid off and you were old doesn't mean there is widespread conspiracy of age discrimination.
You were probably chosen because you decided to slack off and not update your skillset to match the ever changing market. Doesn't make the layoffs right but there is hardly any discrimination here.
Follett is more likely getting rid of "experienced" employees who refuse to change with the times. And it will be in better place with fresh blood.
