Contractors

Hope they offer positions to employees before they offer them to contractors.

From my experience as a manager, some of my contractors have worked harder than my COP people.

"Hope they offer..." says a person who is probably also anti-union. If they're competent and perform a useful role, then they are just as deserving of an offer. Their paystub might not say COP, but COP is still paying their wages.

The contractors have less baggage. ConocoPhillips employees are notorious for excess baggage (and a sense of entitlement).

Do you work for Hilcorp ? How do you know its their rule?

Well.... One of Hilcorp's rules: don't use contractors for anything your employees can do.

Makes sense... employees with skin in the game chase efficiencies and work hard to create value. Contractors create value for their companies by billing hours.

Office staff don't last because Hilcorp is filled with hourly workers, at all levels. Maybe they are paid a salary, but they get shet done like an hourly. Get'R'Done.
