I was already fed up when no RSS staff saw recognition in any form at kickoffs. Two years in a row.

Just remember you don't owe Verizon anything. The paycheck you earn is because you worked hard not because Verizon felt generous. These idiots who sit their and cheer and rah rah rah Verizon all day long are the same people who will throw you under the bus if push comes to shove.
Companies don't have values. People do. Once you start believing in company values, you've started drinking the koolaid. You can believe in a company and share its vision. But never ever ever sacrifice your family or your life for a company because the company will never have your back. Your boss might if you are fortunate, but the company will lay you off in a heartbeat. And those who do sacrifice everything for the company and manage to make it to the end with all the perks and benefits for having done so, I don't think many of them would do it again, having thought about all they gave up to get there. Do your best in your job, but never give up what makes you you, not for a company, not for anything or anyone.
Maybe, but little excuse. Did you REALLY think that a mega-corporation ever had your interests at heart? All of the rah rah kickoffs (exec says something, crowd cheers mindlessly) are rather distasteful..
