Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Outcome of meeting in San Jose?

There was a meeting in San Jose last week. Jerusalem's Israel site manager was in San Jose for a meeting with Cisco high management.

Probably this is related to SPVSS and its future.

Does anyone know anything about this? meeting outcome?

MISulrb-2uzt, CDBU was sold to technicolor and closed on 11/20/2015. If SPVSS is going to be sold, then technicolor is going to shutdown the SJ site and most of the other sites except india and lawrencville. This is what happen when technicolor brought CDBU. They slowly shutdown over sites...

The things that please are those repeated . Well , it depends . It cost $6.9 Billion for Scientific Atlanta , then $600 million back for the CPE business , sold to Technicolor and completed June 2016. Then the dubious pleasure of having paid $5 Billion for NDS and another fire sale to Technicolor ?

I guess it depends on ones definition of pleasure , Marquis De Sade rules ?

This is so long overdue. Never met such a bunch of moaners who built custom crap for every client and thought they were gods gift to software development.

"Still assessing the totality of divestment....which is coming"

Nice sentence my friend, definite ring of truth methinks. Of note is the fact that Cisco is changing pension company back to Mercer which was what NDS ( 50% owned by News Corp ) used .

So its either Sky or failing that perhaps Sports Direct ... if Mike Ashley can be persuaded its a good fit with his sports wear business. Might work ... chambers thought NDS / Cisco was the "perfect fit " ?

Cisco needs a due diligence department staffed by people who aren't children.

NDS was developed for another time and another place. Industry is moving on while this group continues to be a money pit for the company. Spinning them out will be good for Cisco.

@1bvg

The math is quite simple. 5 billions to buy, and a lot more millions to run the business.

... Waiting for customers to pay the bill!!!

Did Cisco really had an interest to make a success from NDS? Or was is just a kill competitors trick?

IVP telco (aka Infinite Home) has a lot of people working on it. It has sold SFA. You do the math.
