Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Rss rumor

Lots of rumors for the RSS position. Some say it's all rumor, others say Thursday, others say end of month for layoffs. Anyone have any more solid information? I understand RSS dosent directly make the company money but they def keep the stores running smoothly.

Rss maybe cut again but it's going to be the ones who have been in the same job role that are making a lot more than the newer guy. I've been with the company many years and I'm kinda afraid I may get cut but at the sametime just know something better is out there for me even if I do. Never believe it's the bottom performers. Always believe it's the reps that are making too much hourly.

It's all rumors and speculation until your manager tells you your specific situation. Just be prepared if you get some bad news because it does seem likely. From one RSS to (presumably) another - good luck. If the position is eliminated the only people who will miss our hard working behinds are the managers who take over our duties. And by that I guess I really mean the Solutions Specs to whom those duties are delegated. I'd love to be a fly on the wall, at least for the first couple weeks.

Personally I think they will have a rough go of it if RSS is completely eliminated AND Solutions Mgrs are reduced. I could see reducing to 1 RSS per location for those that have multiple. I also think 3+ SMs is over kill. 1-2 can cover it depending on store hours, at least until the next iPhone launch, the holiday season, or someone wants a vacation.

Outside of the wireless industry though, retail is in trouble. The wireless industry is on shaky ground - it's just not the cash cow it used to be. Everyone offers unlimited, and it's not easy to raise base rates... so if everyone has created a revenue ceiling the only path to profits is cost reduction.

But by all means, keep paying outside vendors to "clean." Let's overlook the fact the "cleaners" are unaware of the complicated steps to operate a duster and a vacuum, and that your opening specialists take out the trash, dust and vacuum anyway. Keep paying for bulletin boards to be professionally printed and laminated (even though there is a color printer and laminator in the stores).

Winners Circle might be a little awkward this year, folks.
