Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Coincidence?

I just wanted to bring up an interesting thing. There was an earlier post on this thread by someone asking for a "Head Count" as to who is looking for outside employment. I have not been looking and don't plan to until I am actually laid off (I plan on cashing out my 401K and taking unemployment for the maximum allotted time in my state if this happens). I was lucky not to have been in the initial wave of lay offs but I can tell there will be more. The pressure to perform and emphasis on "numbers" has been tremendous since the first wave. The interesting thing I wanted to share is that I have been following this thread since the very first post was made after the initial lay offs. I was "pressured" a week ago by my coach (if I elaborate on what it was it will give away my identity). I will tell you I meet my metrics every week, never call in, and rarely take time off. The very next day after my coach spoke to me, my personal email account has been inundated with emails for jobs. You know the ones that are unsolicited that offer everything from travel nurse jobs, to local jobs in a hospital to other "care manager" positions all over the United States. Coincidence? Maybe. it could be because I am on this site. I don't know how this site could connect my personal email, as it is supposed to be anonymous. I wonder if Humana is generating these emails? I have never gotten this type of solicitation since before I came to the company many years ago and I find it ironic that all of a sudden I start to receive them the very next day my coach is starting to put pressure on me. Anyone else notice this? I think there is directive from above to try to make us quit so they have less to lay off (as the final lay off number will be smaller for them in the end and this will look better for them in the news as well).

Look at job postings, you will notice that there are so many jobs for nurses.

I've went over the policy down in the footer, they use cookies to advertise while you are visiting here. Aside from that they are not doing anything else. I haven't seen an uptick in emails on my side.

Nurses are in demand. You've registered somewhere for something with that email and someone made a connection you are a nurse (e.g., Linked in, Google, Facebook, etc). Once they make a connection that you are a nurse, your contact is sold to marketers. If marketers know (and they do, my BF is one of them) that there is a demand in a certain region and that a big event is taking place (like our layoffs) they can easily configure their marketing campaign by targeting certain attributes - for example you can go on FB and say 'insert this post into feeds of all users who have a bachelors degree in nursing, live in a 30 mile radius from Tampa DT and have liked product XYZ" - that's targeting advertising with surgical precision but it's expensive. Alternatively, they can buy email lists and go carpet bombing inboxes...

Definitely emails. Like I said I have been looking at this site since the first day of the first post, but these didn't start to appear in my inbox until the day after I started getting pressure from my coach. Several different sources, daily emails too. I thought it was really interesting the events coincided with each other. Oh well, I am not worried anymore. When I came to this company many years ago I thought this was the best organization. I could even see myself retiring here. Despite the tremendous pressure, no more lunches, maybe the occasional bathroom break, no more wellbeing, etc...I still plan to stay until I am actually laid off.

I have also had an increase in nursing job emails however I believe it is due to the various state licenses I applied for with the email account. This new requirement to be licensed in all states is ultimately what will break me.Does Humana even offer plans in some of these states? It is a full time job in itself to keep up with each state's CEU requirements with various renewal dates and forms. I guess just one more way to ease us into voluntarily quitting. I prefer not to have an unemployment gap as it creates issues with mortgage applications and during job interviews. I am surprised though that we are so easily dispensable as the cost of hiring/training must have been high.

Are you sure it's e-mails, not the GmailAds that you see in your inbox? If you use gmail, those are adds at the top of your inbox which look like a e-mail, can be expanded like regular e-mail too. Other free mail services have similar adds too.

This site is connected to google and gmail, I think. If you have cookies with certain "buzz" words, like RN, that may be why?
