This industry pays well, but at what cost. Find a person who has 40 years or so and you will find (especially field personnel) divorce(s), broken families, poor health (usually a heart attack or two or cancer), along with perhaps some real scars from being injured. I read that the life expectancy of fire fighters has went up about 10 years in the last 25 years. Oil and gas workers life expectancy is the same. Ask yourself, at the end of the day was it worth it for your tombstone to read "Joe Oilfieldhand - he worked hard". Good luck and the decisions made today will shape your tomorrow.

You can sue for anything. Winning is a different story.

I wonder if I as an excon can sue Cop for stripping me of common sense and making me lazy, dumb and unemployable? Lol

You are working for a corporation. Corporations public or private goal is to increase shareholder wealth. You are an expendable resource in attaining that goal. So is RL, MF and the list continues...

Pull up your panties and do your job.

This is exactly how I feel. I have a great job and I am grateful for being here. I am also deeply detached from this company now, struggle to find motivation to improve things around me at work, and probably spend too much time looking at all the flaws and defects in our processes and people. I thought it would get better when the layoffs were behind us, and when the stress faded from oil prices in the 30's.

Exactly! I think the stress isn't due to the amount of work. It's the work/industry environment.

Read that earlier today too. Funny thing is that the work isn't that hard or stressful but I still felt like the article resonated. Perhaps two years of uncertainty catching up?

Thanks for catching that. Burnout is real, and I think I've finally succombed in response to the last 2 years of stress in this industry. Be healthy y'all.
