As an Ex-COP employee, I agree. Ride the gravy train until it de-rails. When I signed on board with COP it was with the understanding I would do X amount of work for Y amount of money. It was not my problem they had no work for me to do. I upheld my end of the deal. When they finally got around to laying me off, I fully accepted it. Anyone at COP who thinks they are currently earning their salary is lying to him or herself. If you are not running rigs, or repairing wells, you are simply collecting a paycheck. I am now working at a company where I am busting my butt every day. Working late, and the occasional weekend, for less money. But again, I agreed to this arrangement. Truth be told, I am happier, as I have a clear conscience knowing I am actually contributing. I know there are folks out there who will say, "I contribute." Ask yourself if what you did helped increase production? If the answer is, "No", you are not vitally necessary, and therefore expendable. I just wish they would hurry up and start laying off HR folks. Then you will know the layoffs have ended.

If you quit after VCIP you just lost the chance to get packaged out. Why Quit when COP will pay you to leave?
