We have been told that planned job reductions are minimal. Yet we know there has to be at least a thousand in Houston. And I would assume a large number in Calgary. Historically, on the Enbridge side, how does this generally work? Should we expect a bloodbath immediately, like day 1? Later the same week? Or in the 3-4 week timeframe that they have been telling us? Also, I've heard that "The BIG ONE" is scheduled for Labor day (a US holiday at the beginning of September). Anyone else heard this rumor? Just wondering how soon I should have my exit bag ready.

I just want to know where the male executives work out so I can get a glimpse of their naked glory
re: If things are so messed up.
here is why troll. Rumor is some people did offer up retirement long before and were told to wait to get the package. others said they'd take a package and were told no. Others told the job was redundant only to have it filled by practically identical role with someone else. some liked by HR troll found differnt spots. some not l9iked didn't. smoke and fire. so, yes miserable because there is no truth to integrity and respect because we were lied to but lesson learnt - wait for package and get resum ready, no ethics at enbridge
Lol. Sounds like that one key holder has found the layoff.
I bet you'd like if we all quit wouldn't you? No packages then.
HR troll.
If things are so messed up and you are unhappy why do you stay with the company? There could be people that would want your job - perhaps if you are miserable it is time to leave.
Seriously? A single HR rep made all the decisions as to who was specifically let go (to satisfy the various VPs new org chart boxes)? Wow!
I really don't think that there will be that big of a cut. Cuts because of job duplications will happen, but outside of that I cant see them trying to lean out what is already lean.
Re: single HR person.
Oh sh--, really? Hadn't heard that. That's intense. Freaking A.
another agree from an enbridger but also to add - VPs determined the structure and then left it up to a single HR rep to put the names in the boxes. Left it wide open for abuse based on an HR individual's personal likes or more importantly, dislikes. She didn't have a clue what people or departments did. VPs and President failed miserably by delegating. and HR rep broke too many ethical guidelines to count.
That was the best synopsis I've read yet. Seconded from another enbridger.
Traditionally Enbridge has given employees months of anxiety over "big changes" and pushed supervisors to get their employees excited about some new buzz phrase. There will be a few mandatory meetings with zero information presented to employees and front line management. Lots of questions, concerns and anxiety will build with no answers for anyone, but you know just keep excited there is a new poster in the lunch room! Then after rumor after rumor of the cuts day it will happen one morning. Typical selection process is made by mangers 4-5 levels removed from the people involved and generally selected at random it would seem. A cold see you later and a walk out the door for 20 year employees will follow to the lobby and some poor HR contact will retrieve your things. You know real respectful like...
After d-day, the next few months will be spent trying to figure out who the hell was let go, what the new org charts are and who the hell is doing what now. I guess those parts are the "energy futures". Get excited about this new treasure hunt!
in all seriousness. they have leaned on performance to select people, but it's been done so poorly in the past 2 rounds that lots of really good talent has been let go by management. There is zero engagement with multiple levels of lower management on selecting workforce reductions or providing any feedback on reorg plans leading to an absolute mess to keep running and a bitter and resentful workforce that is left wondering why their dedicated coworkers were let go why there is so much more on their backs now to carry.
too long didn't read? it's a mess, they have screwed it up a few times now.
From E: I think they've targeted around 5% of the total workforce each time. I guess this time will be different since the is true redundancy and the still have to meet financial commitments. Could be more than 5%. Packages have been good in the past. I wouldn't be surprised if there is another planned for the fall.
Communication will be horses#%t, they won't officially say what day but it will leak out as it gets close
The sooner the better for me. I thing the first thing I'll do is to stop at CVS buy a couple of FLEET Enemas, rush home the flush this place out of my system.
