by my count, tape lost 126 people from broomfield. insane. the remaining tape story is "please buy LTO8 and put it into an STK library, please, please"
I retired from Oracle in 2013, I know many friends and coworkers at Oracle> I worked on the
T10KD Digital Tape program which shipped just after I left. The T10KE development had already
begun. Recently Oracle announced the T10KE program was cancelled it was ready to ship this
spring along with all future Tape Development also. Last Thursday all the Digital H/W, Mechanical,
Read Write Engineers some software and all support groups were layed off. This was a huge deal
and Oracle is hiding this! Could be over a 100 people or more! Tape library also affected!
A truly sad day for many people and end of an era for Digital Tape storage at Oracle!!
