"SaaS and Cloud will grow..."

I find this laughable. They are throwing so many untrained, poorly equipped, horribly managed bodies at Saas and Cloud that in time it will become obvious to all the joke that it is.

Doubt it. Oracle is a very stable employer.

@clj "Today was only Engineering" - Engineering has people in EAME and APAC, not just the US. The Engineering RIFs have yet to hit those areas.

Layoffs have been ongoing since June, this is now a permanent state of being at oracle, just a question of which unit is hit when. Read the 10K, they reserved $500m for severance, and given how little they give that covers a lot of people. Get the h..l out of there before you get riffed, because you will get riffed

My... what short memories you have.

This time last year it was GCS under RS that was getting the chop in most Support Orgs in Australia, France, Netherlands, Ireland, Germany, Spain and the UK.

Yes, there is a lot of life outside of Oracle. I've had my eyes and I'm shocked (but also not surprised) with the number of companies that are currently or planning on switching away from Oracle to something else.

No company stops at 1 round of layoffs, or a 2nd round. There will be several and maybe even more.

very likely.

they will be seeing if the units are profitable now after the cuts. if they are not, well.. you can figure out what will happen.

Does anybody understand exactly how oracle proposes to generate $8 on revenues from services for each $ of SaaS sales? That's what SC has said on quarterly calls. Never understood where the $8 will come from given the limited size and role of oracle consulting. If they cut consulting that seems even less likely. Is she just blowing smoke? Thoughts?

Hardware group has no future in Oracle. Eventually (within one year or so), there will be huge reduction in hardware group. Start looking.

Well, Beijing PR manager said the recent layoffs in China are part of the global plan, and that it WILL include US. And I don't believe it was just to appease the Chinese public.

Today was only Engineering. Very soon other depts like Operations, etc. will follow suit, to match their head counts also.

WE never had this many layoffs, that is the fact. Why would you assume things will get better...

They will not.

SaaS and Cloud will grow, everything else is destined to die over time.

WE have a lot of customers that will have difficult time transitioning to different platforms or products, however, over time most of them will go away. So, it will be a slow and steady decline for us.
