Severance Pay (January 2017)

Any deviations from what was paid out during the last round of cuts in November? The same? Changes? Thanks...

What pictures do you have in your drawer or on your phone? Now would be the time to make use of them. LOL!

Has anyone been able to negotiate a Better Severance Package with Oracle ?

What leverage do you think you would use in that negotiation?

Can confirm that O has told its consulting partners that it will step back and let them do more of the work. If you're in consulting get the hell out!

Curious: What is the rationale they give for limiting it to a max of 26 weeks? This seems to be pretty clear discrimination against the longest serving employees and the oldest.

Yes, I heard the same,, specially for consulting.. The rumor is that O is looking to let go its consulting practice and will work directly with Big4 for cloud consulting...

the big O has major layoffs planned i was fortunate enough to land a new gig, however for the people I managed i feel bad for them. O will be ridding themselves of consulting and project specialists come EOFY as described to me "do not concern yourself or your PS's with anything other than billing for the next 6 months" with directives like this and numerous conference calls i knew it was time to get out.

i handed in my notice and did not receive so much as a phone call from VPs not even an exit interview. thankfully i did get my final pay

I was told 4 weeks for the first year, plus an additional week for every additional year of employment, up to a maximum of 26 weeks. The first 9 weeks of the severance you are kept on as a regular employee, still accruing vacation time, full benefits, etc. After the first 9 weeks, you then get a lump-sum payment for the rest. Dunno if COBRA payments are included in that.

It's my understanding it's a standard package, no changes or special circumstance arraignments have been offered.

They also seem to have a clause that the separation day is 8 weeks from today, therefore if you leave at any point prior to the separation day, your forfeit your right to collect the severance.
